The only advice we can offer is to truly know who you are buying it from. This is common with Hematite coated Amethyst (usually from Brazil or Uruguay), and is extremely hard to tell the difference between the two with a naked eye. Most are low-quality Quartz or Amethyst crystals which have been heated to extremely high temperatures to remove outside impurities and brighten the color. Since Auralite-23 has come onto the market, there has been an enormous wave of dealers and retailers selling “fake” and altered varieties of Amethyst as “Auralite-23”.
